Hello, I’m Nicola…
A Positive Psychologist and tutor, I’ve had a life-long passion for writing and stories. In 1995, I stepped onto the conveyor belt into law and became a solicitor in the City; thankfully, I escaped just under ten years later. Training as a teacher of English was a delight, and since then I have supported individuals, students, and businesses as a coach and tutor.
Now, I have the joy of combining my love of creativity with my love of psychology. I hold an MSc in Applied Positive Psychology and can offer many sources of support to help you or your child learn, grow, and thrive.
About Nicola
I help people learn, grow, and thrive.
For over 25 years, I’ve dedicated my career to supporting individuals of all ages to reach their potential. I began my professional life as a solicitor, where I learned the power of careful listening and clear guidance. Later, I retrained as a teacher and have worked extensively as a tutor and learning consultant, helping children, teenagers and University students develop confidence and skills that last well beyond exams.
Alongside this, I hold a master’s in Positive Psychology, bringing evidence-based approaches to wellbeing and learning into my work with adults and young people alike. Whether I am supporting a student, guiding a family through the learning process, or helping an adult navigate change or a beloved project, my aim is always the same: to help people feel capable, hopeful, and ready to thrive.
A few of the things that make me, me.
I’m a lifelong learner, happiest when acquiring new knowledge and skills. Outside of my professional life, I’ve qualified as a Pilates teacher and nutritionist, trained in meditation teaching, taken countless cookery courses, and spent several years gigging on the stand-up comedy circuit. I also buy far too many books.
I co-host a literary podcast called She Wrote Too about women writers of the past.
At the moment, I’m learning to paint in watercolours and trying to improve my gardening skills (with mixed results, but plenty of joy).
I love plant-based food in all its fresh, fried, and baked glory. My dream last supper? Spaghetti arrabbiata with ripe tomatoes and the best olive oil I can find.
Favourite place? Cornwall. I go whenever I can; it soothes my soul.
I have two dogs, Bunty and Daphne, who double as personal trainers, comedic sidekicks, and occasional therapy assistants.
I have two daughters I adore. And a husband, who’s quite nice as well.
