Helping people learn, achieve and thrive

At Learn to Thrive, I work with children, teenagers and adults at every stage of their learning journey.

Academic goals

Some people come to me because they want to achieve the highest possible grades in GCSEs or A-levels. Others are preparing for university, returning to education after many years, developing their communication skills, or simply looking for support to move forwards with confidence.

Whatever brings you here, my aim is the same: to help you think more clearly, learn more effectively and fulfil your potential.

Academic success matters. Examinations open doors to universities, careers and future opportunities, and many of the families I work with have made significant sacrifices to provide those opportunities. My role is to help students achieve excellent results through expert teaching, careful preparation and high expectations.

I also believe that education is about far more than examination grades alone.

Developing Life-long skills

The most successful learners develop curiosity, confidence, resilience, independence and the ability to communicate their ideas well. These qualities not only lead to stronger academic performance but continue to benefit people throughout their lives.

I hold qualifications in Law, Education and Applied Positive Psychology, together with more than twenty years of teaching experience, I bring together academic expertise with an understanding of how people learn best.

Every learner is different, so every programme is personalised.

Knowledge PLUS Skills

Specialist tuition for GCSE, A-level and beyond.

Subjects include:

  • English Language

  • English Literature

  • Psychology

  • Politics

  • Law

  • Sociology

  • Criminology

Sessions are designed to strengthen subject knowledge, examination technique, essay writing, critical thinking and confidence. It is vital to build the skills to do well in the exams. Whether the goal is securing a university place, improving predicted grades or stretching the most able students, tuition is tailored to each individual’s needs.

I always keep up with my Continuing Professional Development; I know the exam boards, the mark schemes and I take those Examiners Reports and make that advice accessible and meaningful for students and parents.

LAMDA Communication

Clear communication is one of life’s greatest advantages.

I offer coaching leading to LAMDA Communication examinations, helping young people develop confidence in public speaking, discussion, presentation and spoken English.

These internationally recognised qualifications develop skills that benefit students throughout school, university and professional life.

Many parents find that the greatest transformation is not simply passing the examination but watching their child become more confident in expressing their ideas.

University and Adult Learning

Learning doesn’t stop when school ends.

I work with undergraduate students, mature students and adult learners who want support with essay writing, academic thinking, dissertations, study skills or simply finding a way forward when they feel stuck.

Rather than completing work for students, I help them organise ideas, develop stronger arguments, improve structure and become more confident independent learners.

This service is particularly valuable for students who know they are capable but need thoughtful guidance to unlock their potential.

Sometimes, this can involve coaching students through the challenges of undergraduate life.
